Not a lengthy reflection today, my friends. The dialogue amongst our fellows is going to rage out of control over the next couple of days, as tends to happen when situations beyond our control (your vote does not matter) arise, and it has reminded me of something that was pointed out to me long ago. “You better hope you are the problem. If it’s the democrat’s fault, the republican’s fault, the left’s fault, the right’s fault, his fault, her fault, their fault, they’s fault, them’s fault, xi’s fault, xer’s fault, your ex’s fault, your significant other’s fault, or whoever or whatever’s fault, you are absolutely, positively fucked – because there ain’t a damn thing you can do about any of that.”
Please, God, let it be my fault. At least if it’s my fault, I have an opportunity to fix it. The fantastic news is that I (or we) don’t have to pray that it is my fault; it already is my fault. Whatever is disturbing us today is because we are allowing someone or something to disturb us. We have the choice to return to the “now” and be rid of disturbance. I can either remove myself from the situation entirely, accept the situation entirely, or change the situation if, of course, it is something that can be changed and if I have the courage to do so.
I know you are all regular people for the most part, but the prayer is Universal. Today, let’s accept the things that we cannot change and be courageous enough to change the things we can. May we find our individual responsibility for what we feel is “wrong” in our lives. God is intimately involved anyway. He sees and knows all. Do not fret of the World.
